For devotions, our family has been reading, Tales of Persia by William Miller (1892-1993). Miller served as a missionary in Persia until 1962.
The chapter “Everything You Need for the Journey” is worth the price of the book. Miller presents the Gospel to an initially unfriendly Muslim along the border of Afghanistan . He explains to the Muslim that travelers need four things: a road, light, bread, and water. He then relates that we all are travelers and Jesus has provided these four necessary things. Jesus is the way; He is the light of the world; He is the bread of life; and the one who trusts in Him will never thirst.
This book is a gem and I highly recommend you read it to your family – especially if you have children between the ages of 5-15.
