Shabir Ally and Pork
Here are a few comments by the popular Muslim apologist, Shabir Ally about what the Bible says about eating pork.
Shabir Ally pits the Apostle Paul against Jesus
Shabir pits the Apostle Paul against Jesus at 0:42-1:34. Shabir’s misunderstanding of Paul’s relationship to the gospels goes back to the Quran’s teaching about a fictitious book from heaven revealed to Jesus, the Injeel.1To learn more see What every Muslim should know about the Bible.
Shabir is correct in saying that Paul taught that all foods are clean. But it wasn’t only Paul that taught this, but the Apostle Peter was taught this (Acts 10).
What About the Seventh Commandment?
Even though Shabir Ally is mistaken about Jesus’ teaching about clean and unclean foods, eating or not eating pork is not the essence of Christianity (Romans 14:17). A more important question about the Law is comparing what Jesus taught about adultery and polygamy versus Muhammad.
Without question, Muhammad’s marriage to Zaynab bint Jahsh violated Jesus’ teaching about the 7th Commandment (Matthew 5:27-32; 19:3-12). In fact, Muhammad’s marriage to Zaynab violated Jesus teaching about the Law in at least four ways:
- unlawful lust
- unlawful divorce
- unlawful remarriage
- multiple wives and concubines
Instead of arguing about bacon, Shabir Ally would do better to discuss one of the Ten Commandments: the 7th Commandment.
