How do you reconcile Muhammad’s Death with Quran 69:44-46?
The Quran says,
And if he (Muhammad SAW) had forged a false saying concerning Us (Allah), We surely should have seized him by his right hand (or with power and might), And then certainly should have cut off his life artery (Aorta), (Quran 69:44-46, Muhsin Khan)
Sometime after Muhammad ate poisoned meat and was dying he exclaimed,
….Narrated ‘Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, “O ‘Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison.” (Sahih Bukhari 5:59:713)
Why, from these two accounts, would a person come to the conclusion that Muhammad was a true prophet?
Some have pointed out that the Arabic words translated “aorta” are different in the Quran and hadith. I don’t know Arabic; however, Muslims who know Arabic well enough to translate the hadiths and meaning of the Quran into English have translated these two Arabic words with the same English word “aorta.”
Suppose a man was making claims that contradicted Islam. In the name of Allah he says,
“If he forged a false saying concerning Us (Allah), then We certainly would run him run over with a car.”
Sometime later this man is run over by a pickup truck. Wouldn’t this be a decisive argument that this man was not a prophet from Allah? Wouldn’t it be silly to argue about the differences between a car and a pickup truck?

To clarify this matter, we need to explain the Quranic verses and hadith that you have mentioned; in addition to the exact meanings of the words in context.
All translators seem to agree that it is the Aorta, which is the largest artery in the human body. However, we all agree that Quranic translators are COMPLETELY different than interpreters of the Quran. I would describe their work as attempting to translate the Quran to convey the general meaning. The specific meaning can only be explained by interpreters.
To stay within context, we need to interpret verses 44-48 of the same chapter:
{And if he had forged a false saying concerning Us} (69:44)
Meaning, if Muhammad forged something against Us, as they CLAIM, and added or removed anything from the Message, or said anything from himself while attributing it to Us (Allah), then We would surely be swift in punishing him. And of course, Muhammad did not do any of this (as the disbelievers claimed).’ Thus, Allah says:
{We surely would have seized him by his right hand} (69:45)
Meaning, We would have assuredly seized him, We would have exacted vengeance [against him], as punishment, by the Right Hand, by [Our] strength and power.
{And then We certainly would have cut off Al-Wateen from him} (69:46)
Ibn Abbas said, “It (Al-Wateen) is a vein attached to the artery of the heart. So the best interpreter known to us is telling us that it is a vein branching from the aorta and not the aorta itself.
Of course there are many veins attached to the heart’s main artery but the holding of the right hand and the action of cutting explained in the verses above tells us that we are talking about the jugular vein since cutting the aorta entails cutting the entire body to reach it and no one kills a person in this manner; a strike to the neck MAKES more sense.
{And none of you could have prevented it from him.} (69:47)
The meaning behind all of this is to say that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is truthful, righteous and guided because Allah determined what he is to convey from Him, and Allah helped him with miracles and definite proofs. Then Allah says:
{And verily, this is a Reminder for those who have piety} (69:48)
This last verse simply means the Quran, the last and complete revelation from our creator, Allah.
To summarize the above verses, Allah is telling us that if and only if Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not convey the message properly from Allah, then Allah would have seized his life before the message is complete by cutting his throat. However, the opposite happened, the Prophet (peace be upon him) conveyed Allah’s message to the fullest and the proof is in Allah’s BOOK:
{…This day I have perfected for you your religion, and have bestowed upon you My Bounty in full measure, and have been please to assign for you Islam as your religion…} (Al-Maidah, Chapter 5, Verse 3)
In addition, pertaining to cutting the throat, Allah could have simply said that we would have seized his life, but Allah’s definitive wisdom decrees to mention a way of execution since He has ultimately taken Muhammad’s life.
However, he was not executed in the manner mentioned in the above verses, proving that the Prophet (peace be upon him) never deviated from perfectly conveying Allah’s message; not even a tiny bit.
Going back to the hadith that you have mentioned, the same expression was stated in several hadith by many different narrators; I will stick to Abu Dawud’s version:
Narrated Umm Mubashshir that she said to the Prophet (peace be upon him) during the sickness of which he died from: What do you think about your illness, Apostle of Allah? I do not think about the illness of your son except the poisoned sheep of which he had eaten with you at Khaybar. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: And I do not think about my illness except that. This is the TIME when it cut off my Abhar. BOOK 39, Hadith 4499)
I am using the original word since again the translation does not OFFER a proper meaning. Abhar is a vein in the human’s back that is CONNECTED to the main artery; if cut off a person would die.
Here, the Prophet (peace be upon him) is SPECULATING that his illness that is about to kill him, is due to the incident that took place in Khaybar few years before, where a Jewish woman offered him poisoned meat and he took a small bite of it. The woman narrating the hadith, also thinks that her son who became ill before his death, died from the same incident.
Putting the Quranic verses and the hadith back in context, the statement mentioned in the hadith is clearly an expression to mean “it killed me”, while the Quranic verse is describing a way of execution; therefore the two have no RELATION whatsoever. Also, the two words are completely different in the Arabic language and are referring to two different veins.
In addition, the act of cutting means that blood will flow, while this was not the case; Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) INFORMS us how the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed away:
Narrated ‘Aisha: During his sickness, Allah’s Apostle was asking repeatedly, “Where am I TODAY? Where will I be tomorrow?” And I was waiting for the day of my turn (impatiently). Then, when my turn came, Allah took his soul away (in my lap) between my chest and arms and he was buried in my house. (Al-Bukhari, Book 23, Hadith 471)

There is a difference between event and interpretation. We are agreed upon the events: Muhammad’s claims and death. What we disagree about is the interpretation/meaning.
As I mentioned in the above post, what came from Muhammad’s lips about his “aorta” raises many doubts and argues he was not a true prophet from God. The fact is that Muhammad spoke things against God and previous revelation. The most blatant and obvious was Muhammad’s denial of the historical event of Jesus’ death on the cross. Your comment was lengthy but do you really think that you demonstrated that your interpretation of the events is without any doubt the correct one?

There is no contradiction in the two things you are asking about, and I believe that if you repeat that hadith a few times and actually listen (not hear) yourself you would realize that.
According to you, the verse says:

and the narration says
((I feel as if my aorta is being cut))
you see, actually having your artery cut and then bleeding to death within minutes is nothing like eating poisoned meat and then years later, when dying you say that you FEEL like the pain the poison is causing you is like the pain of having your artery cut.

the correct example that would fit the Verse and Narration would go something like this

and then that man is shot with a firearm, and as he lay on his death bed because of the lethal injuries the bullets going through him caused, he said “I FEEL like a car Ran me over”

I dont believe that is a good analogy because if someone was only shot by a gun it is not possible for them to be run over by a car as a cause of death unless a car actually ran them over. Of all feelings, he could have related to why relate to the one you said would happen to you if you were a false prophet? So it is entirely possible muhammad was a false prophet and the fact that its actually a debatable topic makes it difficult to accpept that he wasn’t a false prophet.
Moreover, he repeated that the pain of feeling like his aorta had been cut came at multiple places and at different times.
This was not a singular event with five or six different narrations.
Furthermore, he was trying to hold on to life, praying, why would the prophet of God pray to stay on Earth?
Answer: Because he was afraid to meet his maker, terrified in fact.
You can tell Muhammad was repenting, admitting to Allah that he was a false prophet hoping this would spare himself the Hell-fire.
To be quite frank, you’re just conceding on your own argument. If you say that Muhammad is not a true prophet, then why are you using our Holy Quran to negate that? If God poisons a man, is that not a clear sign of that individual being punished? and in the Bible, Jeremiah 23:15 and 9:15 states: I will make False Prophets eat bitter food and drink poisoned water…. I have read numerous other verses, paragraphs from both Bible and Quran which have lead me to truly believe Mohammed is a False Prophet.

True Prophets were also poisoned in 2 Kings 4:38

Yes, prophet Muhammad (PBUH) married Aisha at the age of 6 however he didn’t consummate the marriage until age 9 which at that time you would be considered a woman. Also, both Aisha and her father consented to the marriage.

The book of Jeremiah you quote is a prophecy and prophecies are written in parable, poison doesnt mean literally a physical poisnous substance or bitter water a physical water that is bitter. Check the biible and your notice that prophecies comes in parables

Thereupon he said: Allah will never give you the power to do it. He (the narrator) said that they (the Companion’s of the Holy Prophet) said: Should we not kill her? Thereupon he said: No. He (Anas) said: I felt (the affects of this poison) on the uvula of Allah’s Messenger. (Sahih Muslim, Book 026, Number 5430

Your convoluted apologetic is a little weak. You’re just playing with words and semantics. But the fact of the matter is that there was a judgment uttered by Muhammad apparently from Allah warning Muhammad against misrepresenting Allah by his words. The consequence is going to be a terrible physical suffering and sickness to be inflicted upon Muhammad. Muhammad was actually inflicted by a terrible physical suffering and sickness for the last 3-4 years ending his life.
Unless you do not consider that there is a living God capable of exacting his words, then there is nothing more to discuss.
If Muhammad was a real prophet then he would’ve known not to eat that poisoned meat. He was killed by a Jewish woman. The quran uses the word Wateen, but Muhammad Abhar. Wateen extends to the back. Muhammad practiced Bloodcupping to get rid of that poison. Where? On the back. Excatly where Wateen extends.
I believe that you just gave Muhammad a free pass without read the verse. You failed to explain the verse, but came up with some cooked up explanations. What you are saying is that there is Arabic for the Quran, Arabic for general the Arabs and Arabic for non-Arabians and Non-Muslims.

In my opinion it is simple to know if a person is good or bad. If Mohammed was doing Loving God’s work then he would have continued on the footsteps of his predecessor called ISA or Yeshua or Jesus as we know. Jesus had the power to heal the blind, give life to the dead, calm the storm. His country was invaded and occupied by Rome, who were brutal. With the power Jesus had, it would be very easy to defeat the Roman within one second. When one Roman soldier arrested him, Peter got emotional and in anger cut of the soldier’s ear. Right then, Jesus told Peter. “Those who live by the sword will die by the sword” And guess what he healed the ear of the arresting soldier. Jesus with all the power was loving, forgiving, compassionate. He was the epitome of what God is. Jesus said “I am life, I am truth and I am the resurrection” How can he make such tall claim. Never in Gospel Jesus talks about cutting of toes, cutting of heads of the unbelievers, marrying small girl, taking sex slaves, robbing caravans.
Now six hundred years after Jesus, comes Mohammed and what did he do. Sura Al Anfal (Spoils of war). His country was not invaded by foreign forces for one. As a trader visiting different places for the age of 8 with his uncle, he was influenced by Jewish and Christian tradition, he was curious. A Heretics monk by the name of Bahira gave him many Suras and some he invented as per his need. It is easy if there is no work and nothing to do and only focus on one things, any fools can learn. It is like memorizing the Koran day and night from childhood and then the person becomes Hafiz. Even the lady who poisoned him, did so because he killed her husband and her family. One day some people came to Mohammed, but they complained that they were not feeling well, so he told them to drink camel’s urine and milk and soon they became well, they accepted Islam, but on their way back they robbed the herd of camel. Mohammed sent a hunting raid and got them back. He tied their hands and legs and then cut their feet and hands and used hot nails and pierced their eyes and then left them in the desert to die. This is how kind and magnanimous Mohammed was. He killed the Jewish rich tribes and took their land, money and women and enslaved some. He suffered for three years and died like and ordinary man. How can anyone compare him to Jesus. He was a smart, but evil man in disguise as a Prophet. Muslims are so brainwashed that they just cannot believe other wise. He will say ABIL and KABIL. In Sura Maryam when the people ask Mary where did the child come from and they say “oh sister of Aaron your father was a nice man” here there is a big blunder. Mary father name is Joachaim, but the Koran says it is Imran. Also Mary mother of Jesus never had a brother named Aaron. However, 1500 years before Jesus, came Moses and he had a sister named Maryam and a brother named Aaron and their father was Amran (Imran). So you see Allah has made a big mistake. But don’t worry the Muslims will always have some to paint their mistakes. I feel sorry for them for following that book, it is only bringing them death and destruction, even to this day. Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, besides poverty in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Africa, no jobs in Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco. They all want to go to the west and take everyone to the 7th century Arabia, where will ride donkey cart and camels and drink camel’s urine and milk and kill each other. Adil already has given and proved with Quranic verses and Hadith because As Muslim when things become complicated and conflict in Hadees narration then we have to seek help in Quran. If any Quranic verses not able to understand then we look forward read explanation in different Hadees that’s why we have many Hadees such as ” Al-Bukhari”, ” Al-Muslim”, “Al-Trimazi”, Abu Dawood, Al-Nisai, Ibn E Maja, Al-Silsila.

Chaser, if you begin with the belief Muhammad was a prophet, then I can understand why you don’t find my argument to be strong. However, if a non-Muslim is looking at whether or not Muhammad was a prophet, the words and circumstances surrounding Muhammad’s death bring providential clarity.
Of even greater importance—and I pointed this out above—is that Muhammad contradicted previous revelation: Muhammad denied the historical event of Jesus’ death on the cross. If a person doesn’t begin with the belief that Muhammad was a prophet, then Muhammad’s mistake about history–and this is no small mistake! — is evidence that he wasn’t a prophet of Yahweh. The circumstances of Muhammad’s death are further providential confirmation to the non-Muslim who believes in God but not the Qur’an.

It seems to me that the Qur’an focuses on Muhammad, because–unlike the Bible–it was given in a single generation. The Qur’an is not an historical book. Unlike much of the Bible, the Qur’an is not an ongoing story of what God has done in the history of the world He created.
I’ve found that Muslims say they believe and honor Moses, David, Jonah, Jesus; etc.. But what they really believe and honor is what Muhammad said about them many centuries later.
Jews and Christians say they honor and believe the prophet Jonah. Jonah is part of Jewish and Christian Scripture. Muslims say they honor and believe the prophet Jonah, but the book of Jonah is left out of their Scripture.
Honoring the Moses, David, Jonah, and Jesus of history is different from honoring what Muhammad recited about them many hundreds of years later.
Maybe my Muslim friends can answer. My guess is that they will assert that the Jewish and Christian Scriptures are corrupt, since Muhammad contradicted previous revelation. Maybe they can explain how Psalm 23 is corrupt and why their Scripture no longer honors this Jewish and Christian Scripture.

was that verse the last verse ever told by Mohammed?? if not, then that means that he is in fact not lying and saying false things, because surely God will not let that man continue spreading his lies, espacialy that saying “cut his arteria ” indicates that he will die very quickly, as for Mohammed ,he died several years after eating the posined meat, as for the reason why he didnt die immediatley like he’s companion who ate with him from the poisoned meat, is because he was sent by God to deliver the Quran and teach people their religion, and he was not done doing both, so it was not meant for him to die then, but when his duties were done, God ended his time here on earth.

1. Wateen-Abhar Difference:
The difference between these two words has already been discussed in the original article as well as later comments. However, I would like to point out that if Muhammad’s death was truly God’s justice and manifestation of His truth, then surely the All-Powerful God and Creator of this mind-blowing universe had the power to take care of little details.
So debunking the car-truck analogy in the original article – Yes! It would have mattered if a truck, not a car, had run over because God should be able to take care of these details.
2. Context of the Quranic Verse:
The preceding verses, along with the verse in question, are meant to be testament to Muhammad’s truthfulness and him being a Messenger. The verses, addressing the pagans of Makkah, tell us that Quranic revelations were being spoken by an honorable Messenger, not by a poet nor a soothsayer. And had he (Muhammad) been fabricating revelations, then God would have cut his Wateen already. So I ask you, it took God almost two decades to kill a false prophet, who by the way had completed his book by the time he died and claimed/challenged that he should be dead already if he were a liar?
3. Medical Expertise:
If we go by your supposition that Muhammad was not a Prophet, then it follows naturally to presume that he also did not have medical wisdom that actual Prophets could have from God. Meanwhile it is also established that he wasn’t a medical expert per se. And according to the Hadeeth he said he felt like the poison was cutting off his Abhar. So how can we deduce cause of death on the basis of what he says? Also, he “felt” like his Abhar was being cut off. That doesn’t mean his Abhar was actually cut off and he died because of it. A person could say that he feels like his diarrohea will kill him, while it is stomach cancer the actual cause of death.
4. Illness for Several Days/Weeks:
It doesn’t take a surgeon to figure that if your Aorta is cut off, you would die bleeding immediately. However, Prophet Muhammad was ill for several days and there was no bleeding when he finally died.
Still, what a seriously painful way to die and worse still – to be kept by death!
Unlike Jesus, who suffered a much more painful death, but rose again from the grave on the third day.

Does the Prophet’s Death from Poison Disprove His Prophethood
The Prophet (ﷺ) in his ailment in which he died, used to say, “O `Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut (انْقِطَاعَ, utqitaa’a) from that poison.”
Sahih Bukhari
The hadith quoted above does not say that the Prophet ﷺ passed away from poisoning.
The Prophet ﷺ was aging and was getting sick and the Prophet ﷺ just simply said that he still feels the taste of the poison in his mouth. That does not imply that the poison killed him.
There are some Christians who have a problem with the Prophet s ﷺ death.
Lets see if this truly is a problem.
the Jews wanted to kill the Messenger ﷺ on several occasions, including the following:
1 – When he was a child.
2 – They tried to kill him ﷺ after Badr
3 – The Prophet ﷺ sat by a wall belonging to Banu al-Nadeer, and they plotted to throw a rock on him and kill him.

The Parable of the Tenants
He then began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. 2
At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. 5He sent still another, and that one they killed.
He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.6″
He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’7″But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8
So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.9″
What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. 10
Haven’t you read this scripture: ” ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 11the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes?” 12Then they looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.
In this parable, the wicked tenants represent the Jews, the servants represent the prophets whom God sent one after another; and the owner of the vineyard represents God. The son obviously represents Jesus.
This parable shows that the Jews used to kill the Prophets previously.
Second thing to notice is that if the critics say that,
THE PROPHET DIED FROM THE POISON FOUR YEARS LATER!
This is a miracle.
The fact that Allah protected the Prophet ﷺ from dying from the poison immediately and had him live a long in order to finish his prophethood of spreading the message of Islam
The fact that the Prophet ﷺ survived that poison for four years and then pass away mean nothing else except that he was a true Prophet of God and God saved him so that his prophetic mission was complete
Such a thing is medically impossible and is therefore a miracle.
Allah did not kill the Prophet ﷺ as every living creature has to taste death and the Prophets of God are human and are no exception to death.
Let’s look at some of the Prophets.
Prophet Moses died on Mount Nebo.
Prophet Noah died in his bed.
Prophet Adam died of sickness.
Isaiah was killed by being sawed in two under the evil King Manasseh of Judah.
Jeremiah was later stoned to death by “his people” at Taphnai in Egypt
Ezekiel died in Babylonia where “the leader of the Israelite exiles” killed him after being reproved for worshiping of idols.
Jeremiah was stoned to death in Ancient Eqypt.
Zaechariah died of old age.
Every living creature will taste death

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Where did you get your information about the death of: Moses, Noah, Adam, etc.? If you look more closely at your sources, including Mark’s gospel, you will learn that Jesus already died on the cross and rose again from the dead.

It depends. Do you think literally “hit by a truck” is exactly the same as “AS IF hit by a truck (figuratively)”?

The hadiths were tales of what was claimed happened related through generations from one source to another until 250 years after Muhammad died collected by a Ukrainian from descent of a convert Jew from Bukhara. Muslim called him Imam Bukhari. These are Chinese whispers and often contridict the Quran. These are the reason why Islam is unrecognisable from that Muhammad followed.

YOU RECITE TO THE PEOPLE SOMETHING I DID NOT BRING TO YOU FROM GOD, AND YOU HAVE SAID WHAT HE DID NOT SAY TO YOU. – so as everyone can see here muhammad actually forged things against God which warranted his death by cutting off his AORTA as stated in both the quran & hadith
Sir there are many times Muhammad speaks without saying “as if” when referring to the aorta in and out of hadith.
The “as if” from al-bukhari 4428 is not in the arabic. If people want to depend on arabic for defense of Islam then people cannot dismiss it when it is against them.
He says aorta being cut. Not “as if” it were.
