Two days ago we introduced the topic of whether the Qur’an teaches that the text of the Christian Scriptures is “corrupt.” Is it a main tenant of Islam to believe that the Bible as possessed by Christians is corrupt? If so, here is something I have long wondered about as a Christian reading the Qur’an:
The Qur’an requires four witnesses when a woman is accused of adultery (Al-Maeda 4:15; Al-Noor 24:4; cf. 2:282). Of course, adultery is a serious charge and witnesses should be required. And yet, if Muhammad claimed that the Christian Scriptures are adulterated – this would ben an even more serious accusation. This also leads to the question: What testimony/witnesses did Muhammad give to support his allegation that the Christian Scriptures are adulterated?
