Muslims on Pilgrimmage celebrate Eid al-Adha, Feast of Sacrifice. Tens of thousands of sheep and goats, are sacrificed in memory of Abraham’s offering up his beloved son (Genesis 22). Why would God command Abraham to sacrifice his son, his only son, the son he loved?

It is often said that Islam is one of the great Abrahamic religions. But why? Muhammad’s claim to Abraham came more than 2,500 years after Abraham. It is based on Muhammad’s declaration that the angel Gabriel spoke to him. Is that enough to make Islam an Abrahamic religion?
